The State of the People POWER Tour—a national, multi-city campaign uniting Black communities through direct relief, healing, and power building comes to Louisville on Monday and Tuesday, June 2–3, 2025 with events hosted at the historic Simmons College of Kentucky, a vital hub for Black education and organizing in the South.

The Louisville convening comes at a critical juncture, as the community must unite to hold the City accountable for fulfilling the police reform commitments outlined in the 2023 consent decree with the U.S. Department of Justice—despite the current Administration’s recent announcement to seek its dismissal.

Over the two days a powerful lineup of national and local Black leaders, civil rights activists, community organizers, entrepreneurs, faith leaders, educators and policy experts will hold a town hall, service projects, a dynamic rally and workshops focusing on a range of topics impacting our communities. Workshop topics include: renter’s rights, reproductive justice, Freedom Schools, Black women leading change in KY, social media as resistance, building political power, young leaders using music to make change, LGBTQIA+ and more. A community resource fair will include local vendors and organizations with ongoing demonstrations, and mental health services. Both days will also feature an opportunity for members of the community to speak their truth in “The People’s Mic Storytelling Booth”.

Speakers will include Rev. Michael McBride, Rev. Leah Daughtry, Derrick Johnson, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, Angela Rye, Tamika Mallory, Angelo Pinto, Mysonne Linen, additional speakers to be announced
