TOUR VISION

Tour Vision

The State of the People POWER Tour is a nationwide call to action; a movement to rally, restore, and reimagine what’s possible for Black communities across the U.S. It’s not just an event, it’s a people-powered campaign rooted in service, solidarity, and strategic action. Through powerful gatherings in cities across the country, we aim to activate a grassroots movement that amplifies Black voices, demands systemic change, and advances a national collective Black agenda rooted in justice and liberation — building toward the State of the People International Assembly on Juneteenth.

This tour exists at the intersection of healing, resistance, and mobilization — recognizing both the urgency and power of our collective voice.

Objectives

  • Bring the tour directly into Black communities to listen, learn, and uplift the voices too often left out of national conversations
  • Use town halls to create space for honest dialogue, shared concerns, and community-led solutions
  • Reignite energy around civic engagement, economic power, and a united vision for change
  • Center cultural expression and collective joy as tools for healing, resistance, and connection
  • Elevate local leaders and community members as the drivers of this movement
  • Partner with trusted local organizations already serving the community to meet immediate needs
  • Offer free breakfast programs, clothing drives, and wellness services rooted in dignity and care
  • Host workshops that address real-life issues — from healthcare and education to housing and record expungement
  • Leverage the expertise of on-the-ground leaders to deliver resources that reflect the unique needs of each city
  • Support and uplift the work that is already happening, rather than recreating or replacing it
  • Inspire attendees to take political, economic, and social action
  • Distribute toolkits and pledge materials that continue the work beyond the tour
  • Select two delegates per state to represent their communities at the International Assembly on Juneteenth
  • Provide attendees with practical tools they can use to stay involved in the movement — turning inspiration into action
  • Develop and Distribute Black Papers to Advance a Collective Agenda
    • Publish a series of “Black Papers” — community-driven policy briefs that reflect the priorities, demands, and solutions voiced across tour stops
    • Use these papers to outline a shared vision for political, economic, and social change rooted in the lived experiences of Black communities
    • Distribute the Black Papers in print and digital formats to organizers, institutions, policymakers, and media as a roadmap for accountability and action
    • Invite community input through town halls, surveys, and forums to ensure each paper reflects collective insight and local-to-national alignment
  • Distribute localized Action Toolkits with resources such as:
    • Steps for engaging elected officials and organizing local issue-based campaigns
    • A Buy Black directory featuring local businesses and cooperatives
    • Voter registration guidance and policy issue breakdowns
    • Mental health, mutual aid, and wellness resources
    • A list of local and national organizations aligned with the Black agenda
  • Offer a digital version of the toolkit with interactive features, QR codes at each event, and a centralized hub to keep people connected
  • Invite attendees to join a State of the People Community Network — a digital space or mobile platform for ongoing updates, organizing opportunities, education, and virtual gatherings (discord, mighty networks or work with Piksel)
  • Partner with organizers and educators to facilitate follow-up touchpoints (e.g., town halls, campaign launches, leadership trainings) in select cities
  • Collect data and feedback from each stop to shape the larger Black agenda and inform future organizing, campaigns, and assemblies

The POWER Tour Purpose & Dates

We are responding to the urgent needs and collective dreams of our people. The POWER Tour will bring together grassroots organizers, local leaders, creatives, educators, faith leaders, and everyday residents to listen, serve, and act. It’s about showing up where our people are—and staying connected long after the last event.

The tour will run from April 25 to June 15, 2025, culminating in a National Convening on Juneteenth. We’ll be activating communities across 10 cities, each selected for its historical, cultural, and political significance in the Black experience.
