National Black Leaders and Civil Rights Activists to Convene in Baltimore.

Juneteenth | June 19-21, 2025 | A National Convening for Unity, Strategy, and Liberation

“We must accept ourselves as our own liberators, as our own legislators, as our own authorities, as our own resources. We must define our own Black Agenda clearly and independently, trusting only those who demonstrate that their allegiance is to Black people.” – Mayor Richard G. Hatcher

ABOUT THE ASSEMBLY

The State of the People National Assembly is the culmination of the State of the People POWER Tour Part I, a nationwide mobilization rooted in community healing, civic action, and cultural power.  The National Assembly is more than a capstone to the State of the People Power Tour—it is a declaration, a convening of visionaries, and a launchpad for the next era of collective Black power, healing, and action.

The National Assembly will be held on June 19-21, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. Rooted in the spirit of Juneteenth—a day that honors delayed liberation while demanding full freedom—the National Assembly brings together organizers, cultural leaders, policy advocates, artists, and community members from across the country to co-create a vision for our future. It is a space where local struggles meet national strategy, and the energy sparked during the tour transforms into tangible, connected action.

Grounded in the spirit of the 1972 Gary National Black Political Convention and other historic national convenings, the Assembly is a declaration: We are defining our agenda, naming our solutions, and committing to collective action for future generations.
